04/04/2020 @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm : Church Hall, St John the Baptist Parish Church:

######## Cancelled ######### A 1.5 hour workshop introducing Argentine Tango Milonga style. It is for Argentine Tango dancers who do not yet feel confident with dancing the Milonga style.

Please note: This workshop is now ######## Cancelled #########

A one and a half hour workshop introducing Argentine Tango Milonga style. It is for Argentine Tango dancers who do not yet feel confident with dancing the Milonga (a quick step) style. Ideal for couples wishing to learn this fun, energetic, ‘knees up’ tango version of a quick step, whether you want to try Argentine Tango Milonga for the first time, or you wish to boost to your basic musicality and technique.

Ideally you will have had a minimum of 20 weeks of Tango experience, and will have already begun to attend milongas.

It takes two to milonga, so this course will be role balanced (equal leaders and followers) as far as possible. I advise people to book as couples so that there is less need to circulate.

The workshop will cover as much of the following as time allows

The Milonga Walk

  • Walking with rhythm using rebound steps (rebote)
  • The Corrida with different rhythms
  • Double timing the basic walk
  • Walking with rhythm using ‘stumble’ steps (traspie)

Typical milonga figures

  • The basic Box step (Baldoza), in 3 different sizes
  • The Progressive Milonga Basic
  • Travelling Back Ochos with Speed
  • The Milonguero Cross
  • Using rebote and traspie in a Baldoza

By the end of the workshop my aim is to have you dancing a simple Argentine Tango Milonga, using some classic figures, to a traditional Milonga tune.

Places are limited (10 people only) so you need to book and pay for your place below to guarantee entry. Please don’t attend without booking (we might be too full to let you in), and please don’t book without attending (you might be blocking a place that someone else could use instead)!

If you miss out on this workshop, don’t worry, we are planning more in the area later in the year, subject to demand.

What to bring: If you join in you may get hot (this is a ‘vigorous’ dance!), so wear comfortable layered clothing, your usual dance shoes, and any refreshments you may wish to consume.
