Mastering Tango – The Tango Walk Workshop

Book now to avoid disappointment!

This is the first in a series of ‘Mastering tango’ workshops . Each workshop can be taken independently.

Some people who dance Argentine tango believe that the tango walk is a bit boring and that tango is all about figures and ‘moves’. Not so! Creating musicality using rebote, change of weight, and contra tiempo, is part of the fun of the dance.

This is a one and a half hour workshop introducing elements of rhythmic walking, and also looking at different orchestras where these walking styles may be suitable.

It is for improvers to intermediate level, and is ideal for couples wishing to expand their technique and musicality for this beautiful, sophisticated and elegant dance.

It takes two to tango, so this workshop will be role balanced (equal leaders and followers) as far as possible. If you don’t have a partner, please visit my Facebook Page, find this event and post a comment to see if anyone is looking for a partner too.

The workshop will cover as much of the following as time allows

  • Basic Parallel walk and embrace review (Caminata)
  • Multi-track walking in Parallel Step using Dissociation
  • Changing from Parrallel to Cross Step while walking (Caminata con Cambio)
  • The Walk with Musical decorations(Caminata con Adorno)
  • The Pause with Musical decorations (Pausa con Adorno)
  • Walking with different Rhythms
  • Double Timing and Contra Tiempo

By the end of the workshop my aim is to have you dancing a Argentine Tango, using rhythmic walking, to a traditional tango tune.

Places are limited (10 people only) so you need to book and pay for your place below to guarantee entry. Please don’t attend without booking (we might be too full to let you in), and please don’t book without attending (you might be blocking a place that someone else could use instead)!

If you miss out on this workshop, don’t worry, we are planning more in the area later in the year, subject to demand.

What to bring: your usual dance shoes, clothing to allow free movement, and any refreshments you may wish to consume.
